Labor Not Active: Discharge and Readmission
Labor Not Active: Discharge and Readmission
As a Care Provider, you may find yourself called to a labor and begin a Labor Flow Encounter within Maternity Neighborhood but after examination determine that the mother is not in active labor. In this case, you may feel its reasonable to discharge the woman from care.
From the Labor Flow, to the right:
1. Click 'Discharge'
2. Select the time of Discharge, add any comments and initial it
(This will stop the woman from appearing 'In Labor' on your prenatal listing of clients.)
When the client's returns for the remainder of her labor:
1. Click on the client's name within the prenatal client list
2. Click on 'Encounters'
3. You then have two options: a) Choose to edit the previous Labor Flow (Adding a second 'Admission' time.) or b) Start a new Labor Flowsheet encounter. Either are technically possible, though many providers choose to edit the labor flow that was previously discharged and add a new admission time with comments.
