Primary Provider

Primary Provider is a care team designation located in the Client Settings. 

When you designate a provider (only one per Care Team) they will default to auto-subscribe to messages and if sharing is turned on, allow client to message.

You can sort your clients on your home screen by Primary Provider. This is intended to help your practice view caseload.
