Supported Devices

Will Maternity Neighborhood work on my PC or Mac Desktop?  Yes. Maternity Neighborhood is web-based software and will work on any computer with Internet access (Mac, PC, Linux) with the most current operating system.  We recommend always keeping the most recent operating system and browsers updated.

Will it work on my tablet or smartphone?  As the number and variety of smartphones and tablets increases, Maternity Neighborhood strives to continuously improve usability concerns that pertain to device specifications and issues outside of our control. We have focused on tablet usability and high-priority workflows for phones.  We also recommend using these devices in landscape position, where the longest part of the device is horizontal.

I have an Apple iPad.  Will Maternity Neighborhood work? Yes. We recommend iPad 4th Generation or newer for use with Maternity Neighborhood. We've also found it's important to maintain usability by keeping your iPad operating system updated to the most recent available version.

  • But my iPad doesn't have a file system like a regular computer so uploading new files will not work. HELP! The iPad has no trouble viewing and sending any attached files already on the system. We have many midwives who fully chart on the iPad but attach files later when working at a regular computer. There are two apps we hear of being commonly used in accompaniment to Maternity Neighborhood. 1.) PDF Expert is an app available in the iTunes app store which will allows you import PDFs into other systems.  2.) ProMidwife, a third party app that allows pictures of documents to be uploaded as PDFs.  ProMidwife is updated and maintained by a person unconnected to Maternity Neighborhood so it may or may not be current.
  • How do I create an icon for Maternity Neighborhood on my iPad? While on the Maternity Neighborhood Dashboard, click the “Share” button (this is a square with an arrow pointing upwards in the tool bar) and select “Add to home screen”. A Maternity Neighborhood icon will appear as an app button on the last page of your device. Hold your finger on that for 2 seconds and the buttons will begin to shake. You can now drag the icon to the prefered location, including the dock at the bottom of every page.
  • If I can’t login on an iPhone or iPad?  You may have cookies turned off. Go to “General Settings, Safari and set Cookies to “accept all”. You may also need to clear the Safari Cache on your iPad by completing the following steps:
  1. Go to the Settings App on your iPad
  2. Tap the Safari sub-menu
  3. In the pop-up window, tap "Clear"
  4. Within the Safari menu, tap the "Clear Cookies and Data" button
  • Will it work on my iPhone, Android, or Palm phone? Yes. We recommend iPhone 5C or better for the most optimal experience.  Again, to maintain usability, please keep your iPhone operating system updated to the most recent available version. Key workflows are available via phone and we recommend utilizing MN within a landscape (device horizontal) position. The experience is smaller and may require more left-to-right scrolling than your desktop or tablet experience.  We recommend iPhone 5C or better for the most optimal experience.

Is there an App for my iPhone, iPad or Android device?  No. Not at this time. We designed Maternity Neighborhood to work in your web browser on these devices with tablets being optimized ahead of phones.  Maternity Neighborhood does dynamically change the screen's presentation when on small devices, you should have access to each client's record and all clinical information.

Can I use Maternity Neighborhood if I don't have internet access?  No.  This is a web-based tool and available for when you have an internet access. If working in a remote area, we suggest using a text document (like Notebook, Word or Pages) to capture your notes. When Internet access is restored you can copy and paste your notes into Maternity Neighborhood.
